The mission of the St. Louis TEDC, 210 N. Tucker is to effect the successful establishment of technology-based start-up and spin-off companies in order to achieve technology transfer, create jobs, and enhance economic development within the city of St. Louis and the state of Missouri.
The Center is designed to foster the growth and development of new and innovative Information Technology companies in the Midwest region. The Center will also seek to enhance the Region’s position as an important hub of information technology infrastructure and development. The Center will be a not-for-profit entity.
The space will include several private offices, access to data center space and common meeting room with video conferencing capabilities plus common areas for companies to interact, administrative support and other services.
The Center will provide the following services to the entrepreneurial community:
1. Business Guide – A program designed to specifically identify for companies their critical success factors and long and short term strategic action plans required to succeed.
2. Business Plan Development – The Center will assist clients in writing business plans for the purpose of raising capital and guiding the company.
3. On-Site Support – The Center will provide support in the daily activities requisite to building a successful new business.
4. Investment Capital – The Center will identify and provide access to qualified angel investors, venture capital and joint venture partners.
5. Coaching – One of the key factors toward enabling entrepreneurial success are regular meetings with the Program Director and Member Mentors to review current business status and address issues before they become a detriment to business success.
6. Building Management Teams – Using their established relationships within the business and technical community, the Center will help locate appropriate executives that are the right match for client companies to expand and enhance their management teams.
7. Advisory Board Mentoring – The Advisory Board Program provides each of its client companies with the expertise and ongoing advice it needs to maintain an effective and successful strategy.
The Center will meet the need for developing a Center that is specifically focused on information technology companies. The facility itself meets the need of the Center because:
“The facility currently houses a number of bandwidth providers in the buildings. Being in the same location as the supplier can greatly reduce the cost of accessing the bandwidth especially in the case of a company that requires redundant sources of connectivity to meet a contractual Level of Service Agreement.
“Common facilities exist for providing the ability to cross connect with potential customers and suppliers.
“The building is an existing 18 story structure designed by the Army Corp of Engineers. Because it is not new construction no resources will be direct to roof, structure or basic systems. Expansion space is available without heavy capital expenditures.
“The building has a 3,000 amp back-up generator which can be used to provide uninterrupted power supply.
“There is equipment space available that can be leased on a rack by rack basis that provides back-up power, air conditioning, waterless fire suppression systems and a high level of security including motion activated security cameras and palm print security entrance.
“Because of its location in downtown St. Louis and because the facility is a Brownfield site, tenants will be eligible for tax credits through the Redeveloping Communities Tax Credit Program and the Brownfield Tax Credit Program.
Because of the many desirable inherent qualities of this building we expect the Center to draw from companies that are starting businesses in the entire metro area.
